Do I qualify to apply for a Maryland Wear and Carry Permit?
You must be a US Citizen or a permanent legal resident of the United States
- 21 Years of age
- Have not been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor for which a sentence of
imprisonment for more than one year has been imposed; or convicted of a criminal offense for which you could have been sentenced to more than 2 years’ incarceration. - Has not been convicted of a crime involving the possession, use, or distribution
of a controlled dangerous substance. - Are not presently an alcoholic, addict, or habitual user of a controlled dangerous
substance. - Based on an investigation, has not exhibited a propensity for violence or
instability that may reasonably render the person’s possession of a handgun a
danger to the person or others. - As of October 1, 2013, has successfully completed a Maryland State Police
approved firearms training course within 2 year prior to submitting the original or
renewal application.
Can I attend a class if I've never handled a firearm before
Absolutely! Our classes cater to all experience levels, even those new to firearms. We offer thorough instruction and a supportive setting to help you grasp the basics and build confidence. Our instructors will be with you every step of the way, ensuring you feel comfortable and ready.
Can I apply for a Wear and Carry Permit if I hold a Medical Marijuana card?
No, you must contact the State that issued the card and receive a letter that says you have relinquished your card.
How long do I have to wait to get my permit?
The approval process takes a minimum of 90 days
Am I guaranteed to get my license/permit after attending the class?
Although our class satisfies the training and documentation requirements for license or permit applications, we cannot guarantee approval. The state determines licensing and permit approvals, based on all their eligibility requirements. While our training thoroughly prepares you, the final decision rests with the issuing authority
Are there training exemptions for military personnel who want to obtain a concealed carry permit
Active, retired or Honorably discharged members of the Armed Forces and National Guard are exempt from the training required to apply for a Wear and Carry Permit. These military members are able to receive their permit starting at 18 years old.

If I take the Maryland Wear and Carry class do I also need the Maryland Handgun Qualiifcation (HQL) class.
No, once you receive your Maryland Wear and Carry Permit you can apply for your Maryland HQL for no cost. No additional training, fingerprints or investigation is required.
What is your cancellation, rescheduling and refund policy?
- Students are required to cancel 72 hours in advance in order to receive a full refund.
- No refunds will be issued withing 72 hours.
- Students canceling within that 72 hour period may reschedule training within 90 days of the original class date
- Students who are more then 15 min late of your scheduled start time will be required to reschedule their class within 90 days.
